Hi all,
I was having just a bit of trouble selecting first gear for the past year and lately it just went away completely. Its as if I hit a wall in the transmission when trying to select first. 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and reverse are fine, but no luck getting into 1st. Any ideas on what could be the issue? It will take about a month to get parts in so if possible I'd like to order anything I might need before I take the truck out of commission. Thanks!

Pull the stick and selector cover off , then try to manually stick it in first . You'll soon see whats preventing it from going in . Sometimes its just the stick ,or the adjustment/alignment of the stick. Then theres broken missing roll pins in/on the selectors (though loss of reverse is usually thr first sign) Seek and thoult shall find !!!

SubscriberDoes it go into 1st when the engine's not running? If not, then probably something physical is stopping it (as opposed to mechanical)?
If it does, could it be dead synchro on that gear?
Just sounding out a few ideas because I don't really know too much about the gearbox yet!
