    Hard Brake Pedal 93 classic

    Hello people,

Since gettting a Disco a few months back and noticing how easy it is to pull up and how little pressure is required on the brake pedal, I have begun to wonder if what I thought was normal on the Rangie is actually not normal!!

With the Rangie (93 Vogue with ABS) the pedal only moves slightly ie 5-10mm and is quite hard. This is with normal stop start driving, nothing drastic. With emergency type braking the pedal does travel further but again is quite hard.

When I say the pedal is hard.....I mean there is no feeling of the power assist under foot, like when I drive the Disco or any other car for that matter. BUT, it's not like I have to be a gorilla to pull it up (like on my old 4wheel drum brake toyota corona!) There obviously is some power assistance, it's just that the pedal doesn't feel right.

Is that confusing? Verbose, I think is the word

If anyone understood my description, does it sound normal for this type of Rangie?

ABS pressure boosting on your RRC works completely differently to the vacuum booster used in the D1's and other Rovers. Yes I think it's normal, all the ones I've driven feel like that.

Yep it is normal. I have a '94.
Mind you, when the electric brake pressure pump fails, it will move then! Both feet on the pedal and all your weight will gradually retard your vechicle.

I have an old Merc Sl that has very good brakes but relatively huge pedal travel. I really like the Rangie's brakes.
