88 RRC 3.5 litre, AFM Flapper replacement question
hey guys blew my old AFM from a back fire sourced another one from evil bay in england. now my question is my car originally had a flapper type and the one that has been sent has a grid looking thing inside? the part number is the same. are they just interchangeable? or do i need to replace flapper type with flapper type? thanks in advance.

The flapper is Bosch L jetronic. You may be able to find one the same size on an old Merc (280) or BMW (7) in a wrecker. However each flapper is tailored to the particular engine and with Land Rover even individual markets.
Your car is so old now that the ECU probably would not notice any differences and an old grey mechanic should be able to fiddle with the spring to help it.

Flapper AFM
Have one for sale on evilbay atm. I am moving back to Vic in November so I don't need it and the RRC I bought down there is a 90 model 3.9 hotwire so not required.
