I had 15" BWA alloys on my classic.

hello all,
I'm looking to get some off road tyres for the Rangie and due to the price difference I was wondering if I could fit 15" wheels onto my 1990 classic, 16" vogue alloys (of course).
I think I have a larger stud than the older Rangie but I wasn't sure if the 15's will fit over the brakes etc, don't mind having a go at the holes if they just need a bit of expanding.
If anyone knows I would be very grateful for the info, don't want to buy some and find out they don't fit!
I had 15" BWA alloys on my classic.

I had early Range Rover steel wheels cut down and made into 15" by a wheel maker/repairer. They fitted no problems at all. You just need to find some wheel nuts to suit. New ones are ridiculously expensive. I bought some from a wrecker.
I run 15" cheviot alloys and they fit without drama on a 90 classic. Depending what size tyre you are getting, you might need to trim some panels or install a body &/or spring lift.
What size tyres are you considering?

thanks for all the replies, not looking to go big with the rubber, just seems to be much cheaper to get 15's in mud tyres.
just wondering, would the original 15" landrover wheels just fit straight on, think I've got 1 1/4" studs rather than the earlier 5/8" (I admit I may be wrong on both of those!)
like the sound of the made up ones, how much did it cost to get them done?

7 X 15 Cheviot alloys, 31-10.5-15 tyres, 40mm lift. No clearance issues that I have noticed although it a a tow pony and does not do any serious off-road.
31x10.5's will need some trimming, they do snag on some of the sharp bits in the guard (2 doors don't have this problem to a point but 4 doors are a real PIFA for this). I know from experience, off-road reguarly with 31's in the past (too small these days for me, even 33's are small for me now
)
If it's a road vehicle with little or no off-road they're fine but for regular off-road work, get the grinder out

thanks once again for all the info, very pleased to hear they are available to buy, someone has mentioned the load rating of 15" tyres being less than 16's, I thought classic Rangies were light enough not to have to worry about that but if anyone has heard its a problem would be grateful for the information.
Rangie has 2" spring and 2" body lifts, so clearance not an issue, just wary of going to big as I've hear they don't like the rubber to wide.
thanks to all once again
