    RRC/Disco Chassis

Is an RRC chassis identical to a Disco chassis ?

If they are the same, then would I have problems getting it registered if I rebuilt my 1981 RRC onto one ?

Just toying with some ideas at the moment.

Overall, I'd give it a 95%. ( Disco 1 of course). The main obstacle relates to the ADR's of the Disco you get the chassis from. Whilst you'd keep the axles & brakes, you'd also have to keep the efi/cats/fuel system. A fair amount of re-wiring and fuel plumbing.

There is subtle differences/improvements as tube tube not box on a mid rear x member, little tabs on the body outriggers that stop the chassis cracking, but very interchangeable

Save yourself the heartache and just flap wheel the number off and restamp the rr number on, not that I would do that

Isn't the D1 chassis significantly shorter in the rear overhang?

The body is, not the chassis

Whats the main reason for the chassis swap? rusted chassis? repowering the RRC?

Could you just swap the axles, control arms, steering linkages etc to the original chassis?

I am going to get the old chassis sandblasted soon. It has a bit of rust in the rear crossmember which isn't a major drama. The rest is in pretty good nick.

I was planning on converting it to 26 spline axles, so I thought I might try to get a decent disco rolling chassis which may be in better condition than mine and would come with the 26 spline axles. Might help to get the project going a bit quicker.

I want to stick to the old carbie engine as I already have a Quadrajet carbie and manifold ready to put on it. So updating the engine to suit the age of the chassis is out.

Just an idea I wanted to put out there and see what people thought.
