    Intermittent Power Loss to Ignition????????

    hey all,
having some troubles with my 91 RRC in regards to ignition. it stopped on me probably a month and a half ago and a auto sparky mate couldnt find a problem other than a lose-ish connection on the ignition module, so i started driving it again. then, about 2 weeks ago again! (both times cold and hadnt even got out of town yet) this time though i noticed that my gas gauge was losing power along with the ignition system (ignition barrel???) so we checked out the coil and ignition module and first off the test failed but then all was good and everything working. so my question is, is there problems occuring with the barrel or is there something else i should be looking for??????????

Check the switch module at the back of the ign switch, just remove the surround and then the screws that hold it to the rear of the key unit. The wires are just riveted to this and they can come loose (esp if someones been tugging on them from under the steering column).

The barrel itself should be ok, I'd be getting a replacement switch module. Should be available or hit the wreckers, that ones pretty worn out.

    Hi,

The switch module isn't separately available. Have a look here......$120 for the whole shebang. Got mine there.

so got a new ignition switch and barrell from les ritchmond. decided only to put switch in the original barrell although it didnt fit (not by much) so brought the barrell out to the right size and switch fitted but then the coupling was different so cut all the wires and rejoined them to the orignal coupling and is now perfect
