    Rear shocks ,upper mounting arrangement

Now there are two methods of retaining, the Pin and washer or the threaded nut . Simply, has either type got particular advantages over the other ?. Ive seen the top shock rubbers pound out pretty quickly on the pin type , and the whole top eye shear off on the threaded types, seems there are pros and cons for each type!
My 88RRC comes with the PIn type , but I ve got a set of threaded type off the 93RRC as well ., Im using 2 inch over De-carbon V45's , 17 inch Purples , dislocation cones ,and hinged rear rods , extended A frame ball joint ,on 33.50 x 12.5s .maxi drive diff-lock axles etc/

The pin type is meant to be sloppy for articulation. The rubbers are very cheap, a lot cheaper than new shocks. Snapping the eyes off with the threaded type is a known prob.

I'd stick with the pin type, especially with your set up.

The screw on rear top mount is meant for the revised shocks introduced at the same time.
These shocks had/have a one piece large diameter bush with a steel inner sleeve, which the nut does up against , and has tapered washers on each end to allow misalignment.
AFAIK, the purpose was to decrease NVH .
So if you are using non OEM style shocks with split conical bushes stick with the pin. IMHO breakages are most probably because people fit small eye shocks to the screw pin mounts.
