sorry just checked the size again, they are 235/85/16. havnt had any rubbing but only done a few thousand kays around town, will defo have a look at the bolts/cutting on the weekend, havnt done any off road yet and ive given it a slight lift with the EAS kicker so that might be why i havnt noticed it yet.

OK with 235.85x16s you will have more problems.
1 Your gearing is now out 11%.
2 based on my experience with 2 doors ( which are biggerin the arches than 4 doors), at full suspension travel up, the tyres will hit hard at the rear of the rear wheelarches. In my experience , you really need a 1inch minimum body lift to avoid contact at the wheel arches or on the back door.Or you can extend the bump stops by 1 inch.
This is based on 20 years club experience in different terrains with many different combinations of tyres and lift on RRCs.

Interesting..... I've got a mild lift 40mm, lowered 2" shock mounts and extended bumpstops. With this combo 265/75/16 fit okay? Any bigger without guard work?

I am unwilling to comment as I haven't seen that combination. I have fitted 245.75x16 with the cuts I have listed with no problems. These should be about the same height as 265.70 but obviously the 265 .70 are wider. 245.75 are generally accepted as the biggest fit WITHOUT extended bumpstops or body lift. I read yours again and you note 265.75 so I have added it.Quote:

I would suggest that taller and narrower suits RRCs more than lower profile.You may get away with 235.85s more easily than 265.75

OK I have looked at the US BFG site for ATKO 235.85 is 31.7 diameter, 265.70 is 30.7 and 245.75 is 30.5.and 265.75 is 31.7
I have the original lower front fairing, on the front end, of my ride and any tyre you fit has to clear it .... as it is the first point of contact that the tyres will have, throughout any of the body components .....Quote:

On my '91 RRC I ran 265/75/R16 BFG Mud Terrains on factory alloys for years with OME heavy front and Extra heavy rears. The only rubbing was at full lock, just a slight adjustment on the stops and your good to go. :D
Perhaps im preaching to the converted here but I noted in a post or 2 that some may not quite understand what the tyre size means in relation to rolling diameter, Width etc
For example with 205/60/16 (Standard Tyre size)
The 205 refers to the tyre width
The 60 refers to the tyre height from the rim and the higher the number the greater the rolling diameter and the further your speedo reading will vary.
And the 16 denotes the rim/wheel diameter.
So a 235/85/16 will be wider (235 versus 205) and taller with an increased rolling diameter (85 vesus 60) and obviously the 16 denotes a 16 inch rim which is the only measurement that remains the same.
Neil I reckon your EAS kick is saving your tyres mate but id keep an eye on them and as suggested clear any possible spike hazards under the guards.
That said those Michies must ride really nicely and I reckon it is an under rated brand on Four wheel drives.

Actually I think you will find the "60" is aspect ratio ( of the width) not a simple height from rim.

Yes the profile (in this case 60) is a percentage of the width of the tyre, in this cas it is 60% of 205mm
