Sorry mike :( :( I know but it was moved every month or so and washed, have a bit of a mow and put back ;) unfortunatly the paint on the bonnet and roof were cactus before park up. but its in fine fettle and still looks quite tidy. will take some pics once its done. really did not have anywere else to park it :( keeping the crows off it was a bugger!!

Just went to register it and since it was last registered and now, I have put a recon block ex melbourne and now its coming up as a write off in south oz :o TBH the girls at the beauy dept of transport are a great bunch and will sort it.

I have 245.70x16 Bridgestone RD 294 ATs light truck on my 92.
The diameter must be near as dammit to a 205 as my speedo reads 5% over , exactly the same as with my 205s.
They are excellent tyres and much cheaper than the specialist brands such as BFG etc.
Depending on the brand every time I have looked, 235.70 has been a bit smaller than 205x16.

Yes, 7" & the 205 was fitted standard to these rims.

Early D1s had 7" rims with the same 205 tyres.

I have experience with both. The Toyos would be ok in the sizes being discussed in the thread for intended purpose. 604v's will last over 100,000 k's legally but become deadly in the wet for the last half of their life because the tread wears down to the reinforcing between the blocks and won't let water out the sides at all. Quite scary on very wet bitumen.

Mike, that pic was taken a few years ago before it went to keep the cows company. all it would need is a good paint job and a head liner and it would be mint. The whole reason for it being recomissioned is funds, we got to the point in our lives that we needed 2 cars again, so we decided to get the rangie in the shed and give it a good once over and price up putting it back on the road. I allways new it was a good one but having gone over it (and getting the snakes out of it) I realised how good it is. there isn't one spot of rust anywhere.
all ive done really is remove the LPG totally, head gaskets, new battery, service and all the oils, a good tidy up in the engine bay and it passed the RWC no props. total cost including rego and some tyres (when i get em) will be around $1200.
Must admit its given me a great sense of satisfaction to see it back on the road, and Jan loves it which is the main thing. also seeing 2 rangies in the garage next to each other is a good look in my opinion :)
I have a friend coming out from the uk next month so he is trying to find the bits of trim i need to finish the interior off.

got to love rangies, the more the merrier :)

at least the soft dash was parked up until wanted again my soft dash is about to have a rest in the shed due to the purchace of a disco td5(not half as good but cheaper to run). the intention for the rangie is 4.6L and better off road setup. currently has 15" rims with 30 x10.5 maxxis buckshots. 324000klms and still better than disco with 160000. do a search on the disco 1 as im finding alot of parts are same as late classics

Here's some pics of the tyres I got, reckon I got a bargain 4x michelin LTX m&s 265/85/16 in very good condition. a second hand mint michelin is better than a new retread!!
all I had to do was wind the lock stop out half a turn on left lock.

hey neil, i think i have benefitted from this post too :) do they 285s rub at all??? they look awesome btw. im looking at some 265 70 on eBay and if yours dont rub im pretty sure the 265s would be fine yer?
ps not a offroader,(well occasionly) every day driver mostly.

Just so nobody goes out and tries to buy some, I am pretty sure you mean 265.70x16.
In any case if you want to avoid ripping the tyres , you now have to do the following.
1 grind down the bolt at 12 oclock inside the top of the rear wheel arch
2 grind/cut off the fold inside the front of the rear wheel arch from 12 oclock to the front .
3 grind down/cut the flange on the rear door similarly.

I would think they would hit even going over a speedbump fast but if you ever go off road believe me it will happen.

My experience is with 245.75x16 which is about the same height but narrower and I have seen the tyres ripped , and the guard flange ripped out.
