Thanks chaps, I wasn't going to go into the nitty gritty as it can be confusing.

Don't for get the R stands for Radial Ply construction which is pretty much standard on car tyres but not always so on Light truck or Four wheel drive tyres especially considering the massive influx of cheaper import tyres.

As a matter of interest has anyone yet created a tyre age/date of manufacture reference on AULRO?

Especially considering purchase of second hand tyres seems to be more popular these days.

I'm running a pair of 255/65R16's and on the back they flex up fine without contact. On the front they hit the radius arms on full lock and I swapped them to the back to keep my steering lock.

Has anyone checked clearance on 750/16's? There are references to these as factory fitment. Essentially the same diameter as the 235/85R16's but skinnier.

I have run 205R16 casings with 20mm tall retread blocks and also had no clearance issues. My standard fare is 225/75R16 as I can wrap snow chains around them without issues. 235/70R16 is the same size but are thinner P (passenger) casings, 225/75 can be LT (light truck) casings which are far tougher.

I run the 7.50s full time.
They rub at the rear (top of the inner wheel arches) in extreme articulation & you will need to massage the front edge of the rear wheel arches (not the doors) for clearance too. Check the bolts in the wheel arches too - the ignition coil mounting bolts might catch.

Mine occasionally catch the very lower front corner of the front guards too when playing off road but just momentary when turning cross axled.
