    Engine Mounts

    Hi all,

I know there's a common understanding that the Jag V12 engine mounts are the way to go when replacing engine mounts but I was wondering whether Disco mounts are usable (better upgrade?) too on a 3.5l carb (although I have been told that the block may be a Disco one anyway - what the difference?).

What about for gearboxes? LT95 specifically?

    TIA,

    Stu

ps grind off about 10mm from both ends of the theaded bolts before doing the mounts makes getting them in SO much easier

    That's my understanding too.

So if the D1 mounts are not really different to the RRC ones, then I'll use the same. I thought if the D1 mounts were different, I might need to use something else for the gearbox.

The later engine mounts have a larger stud diameter so require a bigger hole in the brackets; no idea at what point the change was made, possibly with the introduction of the 3.9.

Huh? AFAIK They are also the same mount.

I have destroyed about 8 or 10 front mounts in my many years of owning RRCs. I think 3-4 sets in my current 92.
However I have NEVER had to replace the gearbox mounts. The stress seems to be all on the front mounts. If my recent genuines give up I will try Jag V12 mounts, which are the same depth but bigger diameter.

Sorry, I just meant that if the D1 mounts were different to standard, then they may not fit the gearbox, therefore I might need to use standard for the gearbox and something better on the engine.

I've been told both my gearbox & engine mounts are shot.

    mounts

V12 jag mounts hit the chassis when you try to use them as g/box mounts. I just squeezed 6cyl jag mounts in as they are about 1/4" deeper in the rubber than std mounts, they are alsao softer and cheaper.
