    please help fuel flooding

hi all im having a problem with fuel pumping into my charcoal box its not much but is making a right mess because of the leaking its an 85 RRC and i have looked into it but the rave doesn't really cover any of the carby setups per 86

or is it better to just to put the injection set up on from the the last motor that died on me?

    any suggestions

I had a similar problem, twice.
On both occasions it was a hole in the float in the carby fuel bowl.

Your tank breather should go to a fuel separator up in the RH rear mudguard? If the tank breather is connected direct to the canister line some fuel will be occasionally be forced into the canister.

i didn't think there was anything up in the RH guard in the 85's is it on the outer or inner of the car between the guard?

Not totally up on the '85 but the '86-7 has a tin tank pop riveted to the outside of the inner guard. You find this out by drilling out all the tool bracket pop rivets and then hearing a loose clangy sound as you go round corners.

Have a look from underneath, use a torch, there's quite a gap between the inner and outer panels.

The tank is not a pressure tank, it's a vapour/liquid separator and more correctly an expansion tank for excess petrol on hot days. Later plastic fuel tanks have the vapour space built into the tank top shape.
