    Genuine or ???

Where do I get one from and for how much is reasonable... ?

Pics of what I have, note the notch in the nut on REAR of filter...

It's there - Z479. Should be most everywhere - there's a notation that it is also used in Daewoo cielo's in the late 90's. The notch in the nut is to mark the moveable part of the pipe join - so when you put spanners on both sides you turn the correct one.

Any LR specialist will send you one or a dozen aftermarket "Cooper" or other brands while I wouldn't hold my breath for Repco or Supercheap to have them in stock.

Eg Gary CLR, Graeme Cooper, etc etc etc
Or you could try ebay. there are allways plenty of aftermarket there.

$22 including GST . - Coopers, FT5294. FIG7010 a.k.a. ESR 4065C from a local LR supplier. Excellent value. - $40 or so from Repco, and no, they rarely seem to carry them. Forget SuperC--p.

Pump still making some moaning noise, not sure if the Black Hole is running better with the free-flowing filter. - Old one was very hard to blow thru...

Apart from the BOSCH BFP 772, I gather a Holden VR - VS pump would do the same job. Around $45 to $75 - ish...

Fuel Filters, fuel pump RRC 3.9

Recently had a set of issues with fuel supply - pump appeared to be labouring, & RR would cut out - took out pump - luckily a `92 RRC has a hole in boot floor for access!
Pump was already a VN commodore type ( had a Holden part no. on it ) the filter on the end of the pump was severely blocked - tore the filter open till it was flat & tried to suck/blow thru it - very difficult. Bought a replacement filter ( for pump) from Holden - $6 to $7 - suck & blow functions thru the filter are about 1,000% better- but it wasn`t the same shape as the existing one , & would not sit properly in the bottom of the swirl pot once re-assembled ( new filter is rectangular & width of pot with an un-bendable metal stiffener in it) - it works but has fuel supply issues when needle is a bit above empty - which didn`t happen before. Obviously pickup level has changed? or return pipe doesn`t go into pot? May need to recheck installation/ modify plastic ribbing support in bottom of swirl pot , so the pump filter can sit properly.
Also changed in line fuel filter at about $30!

I cheated and bought the recommended BOSCH fuel pump, $99. - The new gauze filter is a differant shape, so needed some 'encouragement' to take up residence.

On the bottom of the genuine pump is a plastic collar that has plastic feet, covered in 2 rubber sheaths that fit into matching 'boots' moulded into the base of the swirl pot. If you don't get the feet IN the receptacles, then chances are the pump will sit tooo high... and I suspect it may then give the symptoms you describe.

Doing it for the first time will require 3 hands and multi-joint skinny fingers of steel... BeeUtey assures me it gets easier with practicee.

Return pipe goes on the outside of the pot, ends in a funny fitting which has a non-return valve. The end is mounted through the pot, and has a hole in it where the returned fuel flows out (into the pot) and draws in more fuel from the outside. In effect, its a jet pump, which keeps the pot full of swirling fuel...

My gauze filter was pretty well ok, but the in-line was near impossible to blow through when wet, and not much better dry...

    Hope that helps.
