    LT95 Rebuild kits

Hi guys, first thread. So take it easy on me if i'm posting in the wrong section

I have an LT95 on the bench in parts. I'm currently carrying out a rebuild on it. I'm new to Landies/Rangies and this is my first gearbox/T/C rebuild. I'm not mechanical tard, I know what i'm doing........ well, I like to think I do I would really appreciate help on a few things.

I have ordered and already taken delivery of these items:
    Genuine LT95 gasket kit
    Genuine oil pump
    Genuine oil distribution ring

So here's the questions. Firstly, i'm having problems finding a supplier for a bearing kit for the box and T/C. Genuine is going to set me back $750 and non-gen seem to be hovering around the $650 mark. Am I looking in the wrong places? Because why should I fork out cash for non-gen when I can get genuine bearings for $100-150 more?

Second question, The oil pump I was sent is steel. The one I pulled out of the box was a fibre type pump. Is this normal? Or have I been sent the wrong thing?

Can anyone help me out with good suppliers? I'm cynical about buying stuff through ebay business' and I can't seem to work out Britpart.

    Many thanks in advance

I can tell you the replacement pump is a up grade as the fibre one could break specially if the wrong oil was used.(engine oil was factory in gearbox and transfercase as new)
I would be buying as many bearings as possible though the local bearing supplier to save costs.
Others will know where to get parts cheap.

    Cheers mate.

I've been to CBC and they came out at just under $500 for all the main bearings (steel caged ones) They don't make a kit, which makes it hard..

Welcome to the world of LT95's. As Ron said the steel oil pump is an upgrade as the fibre ones were prone to breakage especially if you used heavy gear oil in the box. Do a search on here and you will find quite a few threads on LT95 reco. With the bearings go good quality on mainshaft/layshaft and centre diff, on the intermediate shaft use genuine roller bearings and on the box gears use genuine synchos. RHP bearings are tops for the mainshaft and genuine Timken (watch out for cheap chinese copies) on layshaft and centre diff. Do you have a manual for setting up preloads?

I did some searching and have read as many of the LT95 thread I could. Esp to try to get the supplier info.

Yeah, I'm not going to use cheap bearings. I certainly don't want to pull the box back out. The thing I was dubious about with the bearing quotes I have had, is whether they include the gear bearings or not.

I don't have any manuals as of yet. I'm looking around for the best to use. Any you can recommend?

    Thankyou.

If you click on the "shop" icon on the top header list of the page you can buy a rave CD for the 4BD1 Isuzu landy 110 for about $16 that has a repair manual for the LT95 included in it. Basically it is the same box with a different transfer gear ratio and handbrake setup but the repair/setup is the same as the RR one. In Sydney you can contact BMI (British Motor Imports) All4X4(Kotara) or CLR (Blue Mtns area). No doubt there are others but I have dealt with these suppliers and can recommend them. The gear bearings are usually separate form the "main" bearings and you would have to specify them. They are cheap to buy, rollers under the gears and thrusts between them. PM me if you need any help with part numbers etc. As I said earlier RHP MJ 1 1/2 C3 are the ones to use on the mainshaft. Try Statewide bearings, I have found them the best and cheapest for all the main bearings.
    Cheers......Brian

    Land Rover Parts - GEARBOX - LT95 (4 SPEED)

The usual disclaimer - I'm not associated with these guys, have only bought a few things from them and they were good, etc., but they do list the kit and it doesn't sound too bad. I've been meaning to get in touch with them about what bearings they have.

I did buy everything separately from various suppliers a few years ago, and it was quite a headache. You have to go through the parts catalogue and check each and every part to make sure you get your list right.

As for Ashcrofts, they don't deal with the LT95 - sadly - and I don't think they sell anything for them. Though they do have a one-piece centre diff cross-shaft that's meant for the LT230 but fits the LT95 too.
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.

This is from beaumonts in the UK 3 weeks ago if its of any use.

The cost of the gearbox is £400
There would be a surcharge of £100 for no exchange unit. Delivery to your door would be £470.00. Prices have more than doubled in the last couple of years.
Alternatively, i think it would be far more cost effective for you if you can arrange your own courier from Melbourne. If you collected it from the port the price would be
£145. You would still need to pay import duty and local taxes.
So total price to Melbourne £645
    Or to your door £970

These prices are based on transport by sea, i think it takes 4-6 weeks to get to Oz from memory. If you do need it quicker than this
we can use tnt for £785

    Best regards
    Nick.
