In the 1970s and early 1980s you could get new in crate P76 and Terrier Truck 4.4 for $500. They were a great drop in for lots of things but they got old quick and now good blocks are hard to find and there are better new alloy V8s out there complete with current EFI systems.
The remaining Leyland Truck and Bus staff were offered Terrier engines for $300 early 80's in the dying days before T&B sank without trace into the mess of JRA.
