    Smile Cup holders: critical!

For my second post I would like to ask for assistance in finding a cup/drink-holder solution for the RR classic - 1991 model. There could be space either side of the console forward of the "T" bar. Preference is to not have anything hanging out of the vents as the Supercheap Salesmen suggest.

I've tried a couple of searches but probably should find time to improve search skills as the results while very interesting, are not entirely relevant.

Been to as many auto shops as I know of in Perth but very little quality product there as most forum users will attest.

What does everyone else do after forst spilling a big hot flat white from the dash to the floor and over passenger? My '77 model has the uncanny ability to keep a stubby holder resting on the aluminium ashtray lid stable, while cruising down the beach at 40mph.

I'm hoping theres an obscure product out there or a salvage solution from another vehicle that would suit.

    thanks in advance

    G'day there,
I wonder whether these could be modified to fit the early 90's classics:

Currently on ebay is this item number 220871793888 ($110 + postage)

Or, for about half the price (+ shipping):

    CUP HOLDER KIT-GREY

They're designed fit the soft dash Rangies, Disco 1 & 2's, where they mount to the ridge of the console and are screwed in place, but they have the removable inner liner to enable you to fit a 1.25 L bottle.

The UK one seems reasonable value for money, as I wouldn't think the shipping cost would be too high.

There is a beige option if you prefer, and I think there's a US supplier that offers one in black too.

    Cheers,
    Darren

I'm not sure if it would be something you're after, but boating shops have cupholders which flip up into a flat surface mount type of thing. I am going to put them on my '82 2 door (as I have no centre console). You could screw them into any flat surface i.e. the side of your console or dash/whatever.

The other option which I thought about doing was to use one out of an E90 BMW. You'd have to cut a rectangular hole out of your dash/console and it would need to have a fair amount of space behind it (about 150mm or so).. but you hit the button and it pops out.. kinda cool.

    Just a thought.

I have a couple of these - Home - Rijidij Off Road From Rijidij - he is a member on here, and makes top shelf stuff. You can screw 'em anywhere you like.

Oh, and unlike the cheap plastic supa crap ones, these can be bend out at the top to take the largest drinks or coffee mugs.

    Cheers - Gav
