if/when your ABS pump dies let me know as I currently have a spare one

As far as the axles go, if you have the 24 spline drive member as per Benji's post, I think its just a case of removing the dust cover, then circlip, undoing the bolts to slide off the drive member, then pulling out the axle. I'm sure others will correct me if thats not quite right. If you have the 10 spline member, then its just a case of undoing the bolts and sliding out the axle as the drive member is part of the axle.

You'll have to check what one you've got, I've seen 93s with 10 spline, but my 93 has 24 spline. I think they bought in the 24 spline with traction control.

I've driven a few defenders with 10 and 24 spline fronts (obviously), with lockers and 33's;the biggest issue is with shock loading, just use your common sense, and have some mechanical sympathy and you'll be fine.
93 rangie's had both 24 and 10 spline and both had removable drive flange
so best to remove one axle and just check , the LSE rangie did have 24 spline .
But the 100" were mixed 24 and 10 Spline .

The rear on mine hasn't got any circlips, just undo the 5 drive member bolts and out it comes. Literally 2-3 minutes.

The front requires taking off the hub; then you can seperate the inner and outer drives by the circlip in the CV. I'd reckon about 30 minutes work.

The ABS pump is just an electric motor, it can be reconditioned with new brushes (usually the first thing to go) for very little cost. Usually it's the accumulator that goes, and ignoring it klls the pump.

Don't go looking for one of these on the rear axle of a RR/Disco though.
The 24spline RR/Disco rear axle has a flatter dome than the 10 spline, like this one:
I hope it works, I can't see it from where I am.

One of the first things I did when I got the Rangie was to replace the accumulator. Also took a few bleeds to get the pedal to feel right. I'll keep the idea about changing the brushes. I always thought these units were a throw away item due to not being able to get parts.

Is this supposed to be about "24" splined diffs, axels,cv's outer members in standard ex factory RANGE ROVER CLASSICS or what ?
Showing photos of Obviously Defer setups, benj1, has nothing to do with whats in RRC,s. in their standard Form.Never Seen A 24 Spline Diff in any RRC , that was fitted standard.Plenty of Different CV and outer member changes ,usually with or without ABS related IIRC perhaps only the last soft dash Vogues had a form of Traction Control.

24 spline came about from VIN JA624756, so roughly all 1992/1993 MY onwards.

Ok Fine Scouse, that means the so-called 93 Vouge SE I thought I got is not ,its actually a 91 model (Its got the ventilated front calipers/discs ABS type spin housings/CVs) Also my 93TDI D1 has no ABS ,solid rotors (twin lines) and 10 spline diffs ,however my spare set of D1 diffs 95 model Single line non-abs is/has 24 spline diffs . moral of the story , anythink is possible ! caveat emptor!!!

To true, Rover's changes with things like that can be hard to trace. I've spent many many hours trying to trace LSE stuff, but sometimes VINs etc just aren't out there.

Posted by Garry on a previous AULRO thread regarding the Disco:

24 splines started to be phased in with the interim version just prior to the release of the updates in April 94 - so the change over was between about Sep 93 and cars made in Jan 94. The interim version (3.9 - LT77) can have either 10 or 24 splines.

My 93 Vogue SE also has traction control, but the lower models I believe didn't have it.
