All going well, the engine & driveline will be out by the end of the week - depending on how cold it is in my garage at nights...:angel: Took some phots of the old donk last night and how it looks now, so that I can compare it later. Also took the bullbar off to give myself a bit more room.
Just got to finish tidying my bench up before I pull anything apart, or I am bound to loose something.

Well, going to be a couple of days late getting the engine out. My mate decided yesterday that he is going on a trip up through the NT & Kimberly for 4 weeks in his Trihard - on Saturday... So, I've been around there since I finished work helping fit a winch, dual batteries, UHF, pulling the tub off and fitting a tray he had made a while back - wiring in the tail lights, etc. It is getting a RAI and tinted windows tomorrow, then I'll be back there again finishing everything off... fitting the roof top tent, etc...
So, he will have a single day to shake down the whole vehicle before his trip...:eek: Not something I would do, but each to their own...
Pretty tidy Rangie there, hard to get in that year and condition.
I recently sold my 89 Rangie couple of weeks ago and bought one very similar with manual gearbox, no electric windows, nice and simple which is what I was after plus easy to work on. Not as tidy but original and rust free under all the dirt but for $800 I wasn't going to whinge :cool:

My god that dash is ugly, is it a Humber's love child , i be ripping that out as a priority. The rest i like colour as well, a shame to paint it matt black - thats usually just to hide shoddy bodywork.
I doubt I'll rip it out as it is was ordered from the factory like that - I was thinking about replacing the crappy walnut verneer with something else - maybe carbon fibre.Quote:

Well, I now have the donor engine and box sitting next to the Rangie. Just needs a clean up, and it is ready to go. Should have the 3.5 out this week (I've said that before... hopefully no more holdups) at some stage, so all systems go...:)
Oh, and if anyone is after D1 panels, see Landover - that is about all that is left of the car...
Good work on the Rangie so far......be better taking that bush than the shiny black one. Never seen a dash like that before but certainly no expert on them.....carbon fibre would be cool with some nice Autometer gauge kit fitted :angel:.

So, despite my heart being set on matt black for ages, after looking at a Toyota of my mates who has just has his painted satin black I'm now not so sure....
It looked ok, but didn't really grab my attention like I thought it would, and as he colour coded all the door handles, bull bar, rims, etc - it kind of looked like the whole cars paint has faded.
So, now that I am back to square one, I'm not sure which way I should go. Whatever colour it ends up, it won't be a metallic as it will be going bush a bit, and will need to be able to be touched up.
I quite like the idea of colour coding the rims and a few bits and pieces, but maybe colour coding the front and rear bars may be a bit much - although I like Aliens Rangie with all the colour coded bits...
Any thoughts, photos or musings on this subject would be great.
By the way, in case anyone was going to suggest it -it IS NOT staying the colour it is now, but I am ok with "I told you so" sort of comments...:D
