    Best Fuel Economy!

Hi to all just like to start a thread with some fuel economy information.

    I have a 89 RRC with 3.9 Auto I get on average 16L per 100Km

My RRC is standard and I am looking for some fuel usage savings.

So whos got the best set up out there and how does it perform?

Love to hear some feedback, thanks to all.

Wow - not sure if you will get better than that - my 86 Classic with 3.5 Carby gets about 25L per 100, but I don't drive it for its fuel economy...

I will be putting a 3.9 EFI engine in it soon - if I get 16's out of it, I'll be stoked!
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

I get about 15.5 towing a 700Kg camper trailer at 100-105KMH on flat ground and 17 over the mountains which I think is pretty good.

Best I have seen is 14.5 towing. It is a bit hard to know under what conditions as I have a long range tank and conditions change, but this was from Mt isa , Longreach etc.

Recently went to Bathurst from Sydney to pick up a car and I estimate it did 16 over the mountains and through Sydney to and from the Central Coast.
But I only get 20-21 locally, as it is very hilly around Terrigal.

Mods- Thor manifold, Unichip, Bosch gen111 injectors, o2 sensors, free flow muffler, snorkel, standard diameter 245.70x16 tyres, no bullbar no rear step, 2inch lift, air dam on and slots blocked up.

Hi We just got back from a short trip to the flinders rangers from adelaide, did the drive up through clare and the drive back along the national hiway from pt augusta, with some track driving around the flinders, gorges, wilpeana pound. I recorded the fuel and it was 1404 km with an average of 12.6 ltrs/100km. I think it was great. The drive up i used cruise control a lot, which is not the best if going up and down hills, but after that i didnt use it at all just very steady, and judging the "coasting" distance, and gentle on the right foot. I'm going to try to keep a general log at this site, and see how the city driving goes.
    hope this helps.
You'll see one fill up was 83 litres, not much reserve there, lol

    My '86 Rangie,515000km, 3.5 EFI, LT77, 2. 1/2" exhaust, alloy bullbar, roofrack, 245/70R16's on Disco steel rims, 2"lift, timing set at 12', 95 fuel.

Traveling to and from work everyday, around 100km round trip, town, hilly country tar road and dirt, average 14L/100km.

Went from Tamworth to central coast and back on saturday, towed a light camper trailer back, around 650km h/way, averaged 12.8L/100km sitting on the speed limit.

SWMBO's 3.9/auto '95 Disco averages around 16L/100km. She drives it pretty hard tho.

    This is great.

Thanks so much for joining in, I am going to get my RRC to below
    12L per 100Km. for real.

I have a plan and will let you know how it goes.

I know it is alot to do with driving styles and keeping it smooth but sometimes I like to hear that little V8 rev !!!

I looked around on the web and there is so many fuel saving products available that claim to save you 10% of fuel usage. If I fit them all I should be below the 4L per 100km mark lol!!!

Still looking for the magic combo.
