Classic Rangie dash - does anyone make them

I am sick of the dodgy dash on the Rangie. I was wondering if there are any aftermarket replacements out there?

    Has anyone seen anything?

Have you thought about fitting a Disco1 dash?
It's been done before & looks good IMO.

I saw an RRC that had a full Commodore dash. Dunno which year, probably late Eighties-early Nineties.

A lot of work. The dash mounting points and possibly the firewall are different (RRC to update Disco1 dash).

It would be a case of stripping the entire dash out and having the Disco next to the Rangie and start building / swapping.

Yes. I was looking around and there are plenty of aftermarket dash pieces for the Defender.

Since my Rangie is really an off road driver only, I think it might be easier to just fabricate up a dash myself. It is really only the binnacle section I want to replace as I have removed most of the other dash pieces already. I will make something up and install all aftermarket gauges and try to get a D1 sender for the speedo so I can get rid of the mechanical speedo cable.

There were full wood trim kits for the RRc,

There's also a vendor who does the rounds of the swap meets, Cessnock for one, that has a RRc with wood vanier trim he uses as a marketing display.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Given the fact that the RR binnacle is a stand-alone pod, it would be a very simple matter to make something to take it's place. It's the heater unit and it's controls that really let the interior of these vehicles down, and would be vastly improved by swapping in a D1 dash. The soft-dash version is a huge improvement if for no other reason than the heater. Many components of the RR soft-dash- vents and such- are not a direct swap for disco parts even though they look similar.

wouldn't be hard to knock up something like this, but exxy and you loose your warning lights.

disco dash involves unpicking a section off the disco firewall and welding it to the RR.
