I think an issue will be seat belt mounting.

Seats have to comply to ADR's as well as their mounting, so you can't just weld a new seat onto the seat base, they need engineered mounts, and the seat has to comply, something to think about

I fitted 4 door seats (bolt straight onto base) I then cut out the upper section of the b pillar and welded it into the 2 door pillar, same at the bottom. Fitted the later trim, looks std.

For the seat belts, contact Ritters and see if they have the kits to mount them to the pillars. I got some for about $120, but that was at least a couple of years ago.

AFAIK 2 door seats recline, well a little and with difficulty and I have never done it, but look at the back with the seat forward and you will see 2 bolts sticking up. Apparently you do em up or loosen for different backrest angle.
If the angle is the problem maybe that is a cheap fix.
Otherwise you are in a world of bureaucracy and difficulty.

    Hi,

Philip A is correct here. The two bolts referred to (with rubber caps on top) determine how far back the seats 'recline' after folding forward and are adjustable. They only exist to maintain normal driving position. You could take them out but you wouldn't be able to drive properly.

The amount of recliner range you'd get from adjustment is not much.
The poms at the time obviously had no use for true recliners..........due to the weather or local social customs or lack of imagination or lack of opportunity or........ or...........?

    2 door seats, gone jap

Thanks guys for the replys, I got some very nice seats out of a jap 2 door car. From wreckers almost same dimensions as the rangy ones, also got a seat belt kit, thanks for the tip on that debacle, now for some welding and bit of fabricating, ok thanks ,

I guess what you're referring to must have been just for indoors??? Or maybe the back seat was good enough. The mind boggles . . .

I used 2 door disco bases in my rangie. The bases were easier to modify and better units to start with. If you are interested you can look at mine. I have now moved the seats into my defender but the bases are still in the garage.
