    Viscous Fan Problems.

Returning from shop engine started to run rough & vibrate . On checking it out found the fan had lost a blade (did not think it would make it that bad).Have been trying to remove fan assy. with no joy It's a 3.5 & RAVE (3.9) says to remove anti-clockwise looking from the front.Enquired to T.R.S.at Lonsdale about a replacement & he stated that the nut undid in the same direction as the fan which is clockwise so now I'm confused Can anyone confirm which direction the nut turns & any tips on removing, like how you stop the pulley turning. Thanks.

You undo the fan clutch IN THE DIRECTION OF FAN ROTATION, ie clockwise for vee belt drive, anti-clockwise for serpentine belt drive. Two pieces of flat bar, arranged in a vee with a bolt through one end, the other ends each have holes to slip over two pulley bolts, hold the pulley quite easily.

I've removed my fan and fitted twin VT V6 Commodore thermo's. Runs smoother and cooler than it did before. The reason I did this was because I have done a 2" body lift and the fan sat very close to the bottom of the shroud even after dropping the radiator down as far as it could go. It even touched and stopped the fan at one point, got pretty warm and destroyed the bearing. Was cheaper to fit a set of $20 thermo's than a $150 S/H clutch fan.

VT V6 never had Twin Thermo Fans ! and you wont get 2 atandard singles in with good shrouding .Try the ford Mondeo , Fraud AU,EF,EL,BA,BL
So you do a 2 inch body lift and wonder whu the Fan Now hits the shroud ? If you could relocate the radiator 2 inches in any direction and have the cowling still useful that would be impossible . Dont underestimate the cooling ability of a good VC fan and a CORRECTLY fitted shroud.
