I've been told that with my 89 classic Rangy if I want to run diff locks i need to change to 24 fine spline axles.....

I Have 93 with 10 spline and ARB fitted their "locker" to the rear of my 93 RR
..only delay in fitting was that ARB ordered in the 22 tooth spline for the fitting, but when they tried to fit, discovered that it was 10 tooth spline...resulting in the RR staying at ARB another 24hrs...they also fitted an "on-board" ARB compressor (under bonnet), two (2) toggle switches (inside cabin) 1st activates the "compressor" and 2nd activates the "diff lock"...added bonus is that ARB will also provide an "air hose" in order that you can you the ARB ob-boad pump to inflate the tyres.

Have had nil trouble with the ARB system or the 10 tooth diff, my RR does do hard narly off road work...only caution being, have ARB check the wear of the axles...if your RR has had little hard off road they will be fine, if the RR has had a hard off road life might be better investing in some good 2nd hand axles (just had mine replaced for around $150 (used)) ...this after some 7 years using the ARB diff lock in hard off road conditions.

What size tyres? Some people's definition of hard work differ to others

I second Matt/Rovercare's comments. Any tracks you can drive on 30" ATs (in what I assume is a largely stock rrc/disco) are easy in my book.

I also agree with Matt's comments on the previous page re locker/axle options.
