    Snapped Exhaust Bolt.

    Hi Guys,

I've managed to snap an exhaust bolt off in the head. Rear bottom, drivers sied. It's got around 5mm sticking out. Any tips on how to get it out? tryed locking plyers, and a 3/8" stud removal socket which broke.

If you haven't soaked it in a penetrating fluid, do that.

A tractor mechanic told me to try giving them a blow on the end wth a hammer, or try screwing them in before coming out, worst comes to worst you could grind it flush, drill straight up the centre of it and tap it for a new thread, i've done that before...

    Cheers

Do you have access to a welder?
Place a nut over the remaining stud/thread one on if you can.
Weld the sucker on as best you can, if you have a good/skilled welder he will be a good resource here. The heat will help a lot from the welding process.
If not give it a good hit with a hammer, as mentioned before penetren or wd40.
    Heat it up cherry red.
Get a quality set of vise grips on it.
Failing all that call out the Thread Dr, these guys are pretty good from what i hear.
