Either you fit the entire EFI loom, MAF and ECU for a hotwire system or just fit the inlet manifold and wiring from the old motor to the replacement one. Cost: one inlet manifold gasket.

The loom is almost separate from the rest of the vehicle electrics, not too hard to do a total swap. Plenty of threads on fitting hotwire systems to other LR vehicles on the forum.

Just put a 96 Disco EFI 3.9 into my 86 classic carby. All the info I needed was on here - I have a thread running in this forum on my conversion - just asked questions when I got stuck, and someone always had the answer.

As bee utey said - the loom is fairly easy to split out from the donor vehicle, and is a fairly simple affair.

    Cheers - Gav

I've got the 14CUX ECU and MAF if you need it?
You could also use a Ford 5.0L EECIV or V.... a little more work but far superior.

What about the Thor EFI system (plenum and manifold and injectors) with something like a Megasquirt ECU?

The Thor has longer inlet trumpets so will give better torque than the older system.

Go 4.6 with a Megasquirt ECU which allows for sequential paired injection. Multiple coils. Lambda sensors, crank and cam sensors and you should have a decent setup.

Go with Ford EECIV or V. Fully sequential already, available with Direct ignition or you can switch it on even with EECIV, adaptive strategy and Mass Air means it's largely self tuning and massive aftermarket tuning support for low cost.
I ran a big cammed 351C for many years using a stock EECIV/70mm MAF and 30lb injectors with no recalibration...bloomin marvellous!

Interesting. I can only see them used on 4-cyl Escorts, but this will be a 8-cyl obviously? Where they available on the Ford V8?

Yep all Ford V8's use them from the early 80's right up to 2005.
Here in Oz they were used from '91 on 5.0L Falcons right up to 2002. All are sequential, Mass Air and the late '99-'02 used wasted spark but earlier examples can be enabled using an EDIS-8 module if desired.
I've done close to 50 conversions for other people using this system from '92 to present.
This is the ultimate tuning tool for the EEC and allows realtime tuning and logging and it's rediculously inexpensive...
