    Proportioning valve leaking

    Hello All,

Need some suggestions. 81 range rover, not been used in some years. After years of storage, it's lost all brake fluid in primary circuit. Topped up, and brakes work fine without bleeding, but it's leaking from the proportioning valve, or actually the fail switch. It also now fails to bleed on the front calipers, so I figure the shuttle valve has locked down, but also that the seals have failed.

Are new seals avail to rebuild the shuttle valve, are they really just o rings or is this some special seal.

This vehicle is not going back on the road, too far gone for that, just for farm use.

    Thx

Assuming you have a metric MC I wouldn't waste time mucking around with a dodgy shuttle valve. Likely to be seized and have a rusted bore. Correct o rings are hard to find.

A new MC is only 59 quid from Paddocks:

Get some braided brakelines and Mintex pads from them at the same time. Makes a big difference.

not standard o-rings, its cheap and easy to put a rebuild kit in. dungarover on here has second hand proportioner's for a good price.
