    '93 Tacho wiring diagram

    Allo,
Anyone got a tacho wiring diagram for a '93?
I've got the workshop manual but it's crap.

    cheers.

    Look in shop for this:

    Dave's Interesting Things - RRMAN86-94

in the electronics section, this is the bit for the tacho ( There isn't a big diagram like the pre85 RRC)

    Thanks Langy,
Does that mean it runs off the Alternator? I mean "Generator" wtf?!
Vague bastards still can't do a proper diagram it seems.
    cheers,
    Pete.

    .... yes .....

Single wire that picks up the Alternator's "pulse" .... IE ....it records the revs of the alternator ....

Because of your build thread ....

Changing the size of the Alternator's pulley .... changes the revs shown on the tacho ... so you really need 1 of those fancy "timing lights with tacho" to accurately set / read the revs

    Cheers
    Mike

    Thanks guy's,
That has to be a diesel idea?
What a pain in the arse as I now have a non stock alternator.
Maybe I'll have to stick another tacho movement in there?

It's a schematic rather than a diagramme so only gives you the scheme of things not the anatomic minutiae that helps you work out exactly what goes where even without the colour codes.

The alternator feed came on the Phase 2 RRc V8 petrol in 1984 because the traditional tacho feed interferred with the electronic ignition. It also works on the diesel because they lack an ignition circuit completely.

You will usually find the tacho feed as standard on Bosch alternators. IIRC the "W" terminal is the tacho impulse feed.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Ahh right the old lucas crap strikes again...can't design a ignition system that can handle a tacho feed and we get this.
    Cheers Lotz-A-Landies.

btw, Is there an actual circuit diagram printed by anyone?

    A 93 should have a Magneti-Marelli alternator.

You probably have the schematics below but these may be 91MY

    Cheers Bloke,

Yeah that's in the workshop manual. Mine now has a 351 with a Mitsubishi alternator. The marelli thing went with the 3.9 when I sold it.
