I would say that IF you were 37 over, then losing your licence for 6 months is very justified, as someone who has lost his son to someone 'a bit over' who floored it to get through a amber light. It can happen to any of us who are tempted to speed - you never know what or who may get in your way and suffer because of it - learn a lesson and when you get back on the road - dont speed.Quote:

Not overly sympathetic re. Seatbelt fine... Bear in mind that airbags are a Supplementary Restraint System, the Primary is the seatbelt.
Remember a right-angle intersection prang many many years ago... One car around 60 km/h, the other 40 to 50 km/h. One person from each car ejected, one cracked neck and one broken one.
Three passengers in the back of one car were lightly bruised, one cut by the ash-tray and needed a dozen stitches. Only two stayed in hospital.
Wearing belts was not mandatory back then. Needless to say, none were.
Both cars could have been repaired IMHO.

If you were way over the speed limit...and did'nt know for sure what your speed was... then it is reasonable to ask 'what else' were'nt you noticing inside AND outside?

I think you were lucky! They're impounding peoples cars for a month for that normaly :nazilock: 2nd or 3rd offense your car (or the car you were driving) gets crushed. Nice.
The whole "speed is the biggest killer" thing really annoys me in a state where there is NO annual road worthy check.:mad:
Don't forget to ensure your passengers are belted up. In NSW, if a passenger is unbelted both the pax and driver will get fined.
I always tell my wife to belt up.
It doesn't work though :(.

Roll cages and harnesses make it harder for emergency personnel to get to you and get you out of the car.
Swings and roundabout though really, harness is no more harder to be undone than a seatbelt as they are fitted with either a conventional seatbelt buckle for 3/4 points or a twist quick release for 5 point setup.
Don't see how a rollcage makes any difference at all other than your roof probably wont be caved in and trapping you. (In regards to cages without door bars fitted)
BUT I saw a black 110 today with a full external cage so perhaps external cages are indeed allowed?
