    rocker shaft pedestal shims

    Does anybody know where i could get shims that are placed under rockershaft pedastol in v8? Can i get these off the shelf?

    Rimmer bros in the UK is where I got mine from... comes with 3 diffenet sets of thickness.

    I made mine. $20 will get you some brass shim from Repco, the other bit made from scrap 1mm steel sheet.

    To ensure adequate but not excessive lifter preload, in my case after heads were skimmed and block decked.

    Wow, 1MM plus is A LOT ie 40thou+. What about the position of the rocker on the valve stem? I would think it would be well off centre.

    BTW, I made mine also with 15 and 20 thou brass shim. The only trick is to clamp the shim on wood when drilling the holes as it picks up terribly.
