Hi just wondering if you can bolt the zf auto behind the 3.5L V8 but fitted with twin su carbs
I know the box will bolt up but will the kickdown cable work or could you use the brackets off the flapper set up
Just asking cause my replacement engine is twin carb and Im sick to death of the crappy flapper system, my old twin carb RRC did better fuel mileage than the current

I always thought the carbied 3.5 was better suited to the 3 speed.
The ZF worked better with the bigger v8's.
The overall ratios for the 727 carb 3.5 aren't that different when you take the 1.003:1 case into consideration. The best mod I ever did was to fit up a 1.223:1 LT230 from a 5spd D1 to the back of the 727 and it actually acceleratedThe need for the carb hi comp 3.5 to rev actually helped, it still got to the same top speed with the 20% lower ratio High range
Adam is using taller tyres, so using a 1.411 defender High range may actually help in this case, too.
The Hi comp carb 3.5 is actually pretty torquey compared to the low comp EFI donk...

Half the time I drive round in 3rd as there is douch stop start here in Launnie plus I have both the parts anyway and allows me to spend the money I save on the axles instead

I my friend in Brisbane at Jaguar Landrover spares does a conversion kit. I was considering this on mine as I do mostly highway work and would kill for an overdriven top gear. Do you think it would be too slow with this conversion then?
