Just looking at making a great car even better.... C'mon, you have to admit that the Rover offerings aren't the worlds best design... Times have changed and trying to keep an old Rangie on the road long into the future will be a lot easier with some more modern technology.

I hear ya, but if the availability, cost and reliability are there, then I have no issue with a Toyota engine - just stick a Land Rover badge on it if it worries you.. A bit of local badge engineering.
Don't laugh. My L322 has a BMW donk in it, but they still saw fit to stick an LR badge on the engine, even though everyone knows where it came from...![]()

Putting an M57TU would be fun in a RRC (BMW 3.0TD). Or if you could make it work, an N57 (alloy block). They go like the clappers. Even better M57TU-TOP or N57-TOP.. they're twin turbo.. hehe
LS engines would be a pretty good option however. I looked into it before deciding to sell. Power/torque is good, they're simple, parts are everywhere, alloy block, mods galore etc.

Interesting thread. What transmission could be used with the Lexus lump?
Cheers!
He is using the standard R380 Manual box behind it. With an adaptor plate that he has made, it bolted straight up. Going on what he said it is a fairly painless process.
Based on that, it should be a similar process gluing it to the standard auto. The LT230 TC is certainly strong enough with a couple of minor mods, and then just the normal diff and axle strengthening jobs - which he has already done - lockers front and rear and decent 24 spline axles.

One of the main problems i can see with an engine swap into a classic[i have one myself that im still deciding which way to go] is that you put a newer high tech engine at great expence and effort and end up with something still worth bugger all.I love the classics but really they are worth very little now.![]()
