Thread: Electrical question

Hi All,
My 93 classic has just had the heads done for a new lease of life and the engine is singing. I had a pre existing problem that is hard for me to track down and I thought you may have some ideas.

If I leave the vehicle unused for a few days the battery drains enough to prevent a start. I can charge the battery and drive around all day with a few starts and it is fine so there seems to be a slow electrical leak. The other odd symptom is that sometimes, randomly while driving I hear a solenoid click from somewhere that appears to be under the frone passengers seat and the sound system (aftermarket) will cut out - as in the power will cut off and the system will restart.

- I have pulled out the sound system and all the wiring seems fine.
- I have changed batteries for a new one = no change.
- Pulled the under bonnet bulb and checked the bonnet switch = nothing.
- No obvious lights on or other power drain that I can see.

Any clues????

I went to Jaycar and they had the item you mentioned for about $50 (it was discounted).

For about $40 I got this nice little self ranging multimeter:
Autoranging Pocket DMM - Jaycar Electronics

with fuse type test leads:
DMM Leads with Blade Fuse Fitting - Jaycar Electronics

Does the same job but with more uses. Go Jaycar!!!
