Hi again,
As Lotza says the basic shell should have the original paint from 1974. That includes the firewall and (AFAIK) the inner guards. Sorry if my original post was a bit ambiguous.
Just remembering how much of my original 74 body was a pale blue underneath the white. ???
Your dash and the indicator lights on all four corners are consistent with 74.
The hole directly below the warning lights in the binnacle is for the CDL warning light.
Carpet over the tunnel looks 74 as do the seats.
cheers, DL
So, the `74 has been in the shed for a few weeks now and is steadily being reduced to not-much-at-all. I did find out that the original colour is Davos White, a welcome change to the all-too-common Bahama Gold IMHO. However my plans for the car do not include a respray in Davos White but something more like Lincoln Green.
I finally got an engine stand yesterday so started to get ready to pull the motor out and found an alarming amount of grinder markings on the block topside of cylinder #5. So I will get the heads off tomorrow and see what has happened. Of course the `74 has given me lots of rusty surprises but it's nothing beyond my abilities to repair. Anyway, not sure what to do about the motor now as the last thing I needed was the extra cost of another engine to rebuild.
A fair number of things have been removed since this photo -
The worst sill -
What fell out of (what was left of) that sill -
Anyway, lots to do as you can see but I'm glad I saved it, as rough as it is it owes me next to nothing.
