Split rear seat '89 into '86
I have a '89 parts car, and am wanting to swap the seats from this into my '86 RRC.
Front seats went straight in, minus the spacers that were used in the '89. My rear seat is the single type and i want to use the spit seat. The upper side locks mounts are differant and where the '89 apears to have mount holes for both types, the '86 dosen't.
It would seem the only way to get to where i need to be is remove the 1/4's to fix an appropiate threaded mount points. Is this correct? Big job?
Has anyone else done this and how did you go about it?
Cheers
Rick

Hi Rick
I did this to my '85 RRc.
The fittings on the "C" pillar are relatively simple, all you need to do is insert Rivnuts/Nutserts into the appropriate positions.
The floor mountings are not so simple, I had to make up captive nutplates that were secured in the appropriate places under the floor. Given that you have a donor body, it may be easier to remove the floor mountings from the donor and fix them to your floor either by welding them in or with nuts bolts and flat washers underneath. Make sure you fit the floor mountings and fix the seats in position before locating and installing the catch mechanisms on the "C" pillars.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Thanks for that. Wasn't sure if nutsets would be ok in that situation. Good excuse to buy a nutsert kit
.
Going from the '89, the lower rear bolt hole is in the same spot for both brackets, the others arn't even close....
