That makes me very, very sad![]()
First and last time I ever go on a beach....had to watch my baby disappear with the tide as the sun went down after being only 1ft from solid ground and having dragged her a good 10.
Had a shovel, 2 tow ropes and an extractor but the shear pins snapped just as the exhaust stopped burbling and trying to dig out just ended up with being lower down....it was game over.
I'm gutted. She will still be there tomorrow but as the sea is over the roof I doubt there will be much left of her.
Very Sad times![]()

Sorry to hear that dude,,
I watched one disappear at Fraser some years ago,, although stupidity was involved in that one. The car was will there in the morning, but in several pieces.
That's a shocker. Terribly bad luck. Hopefully you'll get it out in one piece.
I've little experience driving on soft sand but the few that I have had mostly involved getting stuck. I've been guilty of not letting the tires down enough, going out with no recovery gear, lead foot breaking traction, over confidence followed by senseless panic.![]()
What did you do wrong?
Now you know why I don't like beaches mate![]()
Bad luck mate. Sorry to hear.![]()

I had a Suzuki Sierra that was 4 months old and had only covered 3,000km drowned on Fraser many years ago. I enquired what the hire companies do with their vehicles and the answer was push it into a fresh water dam for 24 hours to neutralise the salt.
When I recovered mine as I did not have a dam I took it to a caravan park and completely stripped the inside and hosed and hosed and hosed for hours and hours and hours into every nook and cranny.
Two days later drove from Hervey Bay to Newcastle - drove it for another 3 years before selling it with 80,000km on it. No rust at all.
However it took 6 months for the seat foams to dry out and the seat frame did rust in one spot which was welded up. I did need a new fuel tank as the lining was eaten by the salt (replaced under warranty), the tacho stopped working, the clutch got noisy but was replaced under warranty - every piece of gold cad was eaten off so I painted where this happened to stop surface rusting.
So if you want to keep the vehicle there is a chance you can get it going again without rust BUT it will take work and the vehicle will never be the same again.

Sorry to hear about that. That would be awful. About twenty years ago I had a few very, very close calls with the Landie while north of Lancelin, (which is north of Perth), which I've never forgotten. Even now I won't go anywhere near a beach unless it's absolutely safe.
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.
sounds like a location that should never be tackled alone
So so sorry, what a horrible thing, but glad you werent in there with her
At Leyland Truck and Bus, three company cars, an 88" ute, a 109 station wagon, and an RR, were "lost at sea" over a short period of time. This prompted a directive from the Qld. Manager that if he even suspected that an employee had taken a company car on a beach, then that person was in very serious danger of losing their job.
