Serial port? - On a laptop ??? - gosh, even before my time... (just joking)

Is there a way of using one of those android or other 'Tablets' that sometimes sell for a hundred or two $$$, ? - 7" screens, small enough to fit in a Classic golve box...

But my 'Kicker' works fine and lives in the centre-console. Interface lead is always plugged in under the seat.

Yes professional grade laptops kept serial and parrallel ports up until quite recently. I still use both.
I can't see the EASunlocksuite software playing ball on an android, but any XP netbook with a USB-serial adapter should work.

Glovebox? Now you're just bragging about your soft-dash. You do realise how few classics got a glove-box. I got airconditioning instead.

    EAS Unlock works:)

A Big Thanks to Dougal for guiding me thru trial and error getting the unlock working.
I redid the cable using a 3k resistor on Dougals suggestion.
I have a laptop without a USB port so was dependent on a serial adapter.
After much faffing with settings there was nil comms using a jaycar cable adapter, couldnt get it talking with that one,so looked to the same manufacturer that was used for the Rovergauge cable,FTDI "future technologies",so ordered one from RS Components.
This one has flash blue lights showing recieve one side, transmit the other, lets you know when its recieveing right, nice
RS Australia | World Leading Distributor of Electronics, Electromechanical and Industrial Components
    Type in
FTDI SERIAL ADAPTER,as the copy link is massive..
the rovergauge cable from the same manufacturer worked first time so had more faith that they make good stuff, true enough, they do.
Dougal mentioned he had to set up his unlock in a specific order,no exception here.
Seeing as Dougals went direct to serial port he likely had no voltage drop,so this may work for those with serial port usb adapters.
In the "advanced" port settings picture above,i altered the byte transmit/ recieve thing to 576 or close to 600 anyway, didn't touch anything else including the transfer rates inside Unlock program itself.

Plug in cable to eas black plug (under drivers seat rhd, front access panel 93 classic)
    Start EAS Unlock program.
    Control panel /device manager
Set parameters as per diagram, note comm port.
Set Comm port if not default 1.
** Start the car** this is likely the difference, someone mentioned it earlier in this thread, and its the only thing that works for me.
    Initialise unlock
    All FF,in recieve window,yeah.
The only thing that looses good idle,is the heights window,it gets them then goes f7 80.
A quick unplug, replug at the car connector works to regain good idle, all FF,likely not too great for the car tho.
The system works great even with mild carbon monoxide poisoning with engine running playing with the heights like a south LA low rider gansta
Next thing is a cheap chinese 7" mini pc tablet to leave in the glovebox for ROVERGAUGE and EASUnlock and sorted
