Got a set of these to go on her. They look a bit rough, but hoping that they will clean up!

Throwing the interior back together today/ tomorrow, then will be starting the process of pulling the engine out.

Got the composite gaskets to go on.

Looking for a cheap set of extractors to go on if anyone has some!

I think you will find that black knob unscrews. I have not got one, but something is telling me I've done this before. Hope that helps for what it's worth.

    This evenings efforts

Using 240 grit sandpaper, then 400, then 600.

Finished it off by applying some alloy wheel polish

Fitted the electronic ignition the other day. Starts quickly with no mucking around. Seems to run better when cold. Reasonably simple/cheap to do!

The running problem is most definitely the head/head gasket leak. When the car sits for a few weeks it will run stronger for a bit, as the inhibitor in the radiator temporarily seals the leak, but once run for a bit, the seal breaks again and the engine starts missing.

Haven't started pulling it apart yet as I'm still trying to free some space in the shed or garage!

Those wheels look like the same as mine, Performance 15JJ 7's 2P/WIA cast into them, small wheel studs with strange domed wheel nuts, Don't Lose the Mag washers, almost impossible to get, I run 235/75x15 Michelin tyres. I would recommend to use a non-resistor coil if running an electronic (pointless) distributor, I have an 85 model with the LT 77 gearbox,in Arizona Tan with tan cloth interior, the 86 model was the change to larger wheel studs and the horizontal pattern grille and the first of the ZF 4 speed automatics,up from the Chrysler 727 3 speed.

    cheers

Wheel studs haven't changed since series 3. It was after 86 the grill went horizontal.

They have a special domed/blind chrome wheel nut, with a thick section washer that goes into the recess in the wheel,a good tyre company store should be able to source some,I only have 4 wheels, the spare is just a standard Rostyle wheel with a 205 x16 Michelin X on it, as-hard-as, probably one of the original tyres,24 years old,I keep a set of 5 original nuts in a container for it.

    cheers
