    v8 rebuilder

anyone got any recommendation/suggestions on a engine builder to overhaul my 4.2L?

don't mind where on the east coast as I can post it (if required)
a rough idea of price would be good too.

    cheers

I can say for sure that it will be expensive. Mine was in the order of $4,500 with all work done by me save for fitting of liners, machining of crank, reco of both heads, then balancing of rotating assemblies by another mob (long story). That covered: new high compression pistons, rings, all bearings replaced, new cam, new lifters, new timing gears and chain, flanged/tophat liners. Only moving parts not touched were the rocker assemblies - deemed to be OK since this engine always ran on LPG and oil was pretty clean all they way up to the rebuild. At a guess, you'd have to add another $2,500 to cost if you were having it shipped off and returned as a finished motor.

These guys in S.A. have short motors and the like with a range of upgrades depending on the size of your bulging wallet. A 3.8L short motor seems to be 5 Gorillas. Maybe less if you send you motor to them???

Can't vouch for them but might be worth a call.
