    Ford EDIS Coil Packs

    Hi Guys,

Im on a quest for a waterproof Rover V8 Engine for my 89 Rangie, its a 4.6L, My mechanic is putting Ford EDIS coil packs and getting rid of the Dizzy over the next few days and installing a trigger wheel setup Kit from UK.
Everything i needed was bought from here: Megasquirt for V8 engines - Welcome

However im not running on of the megasquirt/jolt ECU, i want to retain my Haltech Sprint 500

Question, I want to run the Ford EDIS module with my Haltech Sprint 500, is it possible or will i have to ditch the whole EDIS 8 module and run a couple of ignitors between the ECU and the Ford Coil Packs?

EDIS 8 Module will apperently run the coil packs without an ECU in a "limp home mode" should anything happen to the ECU.

Any experience or advice would be much appreciated.

With no external triggering the EDIS-8 will fire at 10 degrees advance, to change the advance, it has an input wire and an output wire, the input is a 12V square wave known as the PIP signal, and the output is a 5V square wave known as the SAW wire

It is likely that the Haltech can utilise these wires, but you would need to work out how to configure it to do so, I only have experience with megasquirt

I have contemplated fitting a Megasquirt to my SII V8 Discovery and in discussion with the UK supplier he had advised that it would be possible to run the system without the EDIS module and trigger wheel.
I ran an EDIS system on a Rodeo 2.6 motor with no problems. It actually started andran better than with the original electronic ignition.

Does anybody know for sure if the Haltech Sprint 500 can send/receive this signal?
