Thread: Will 3.5 head gasket fit 4.4?

Ordered a 4.4 head gasket but a 3.5 one came.
Asked the supplier who thinks it should be right.

Not so sure as it came with an extra set of copper ringed bolt holes on the bottom.
Seems to fit otherwise.

Any advice appreciated.

The 4.4 one is slightly out of round to miss the combustion chamber around the valves. Line up your gasket with two temporary dowels in the head and make absolutely sure the fire rings aren't hanging over into free space. Otherwise you can use 3.9 ones, I've had no probs with them.

P76 head gasket is part number AW970. Should still be available from ACL, I bought some last year.
