    1988 Range Rover Vogue Kestrel

    Hi

New to the forum. Based in NZ and recently purchased a 1988 classic. Very original with no mods.

The vehicle is registered as a Vogue Kestrel and I was wondering if anybody knew what this meant? Kestrel is printed on both sides of the car and the rear tail gate. See picture

I have googled it, but nothing has come up apart from another Vogue Kestrel in NZ that someone is trying to sell.

I know it will probably just be a slightly different spec, but does anybody know exactly what "Kestrel" means?

    Greetings.

I'm also in NZ and have seen maybe 3-4 of these over the years. I think they were all the same shade of white too.
I think they were a higher specced vogue, but I'm not sure exactly what the spec was. I've never been able to look through a stationary one.

Perhaps the Land Rover dealer selling these was making a connection:

    Kestrel Preservation Society

    Both white and wallowy, too.

Haha. CSK's are going for a princely sum!!!

They must have been a run out spec that Land Rover NZ put together to get rid of old stock prior to the 3.9s coming in. Anyway, its a nice and tidy truck. In the process of tidying it up I might get rid of the Kestrel transfers. Will give a cleaner look.

Well don't do that until you know more about them. Obviously there are a number in New Zealand. They do get a mention in one of the best Range Rover Classic websites:

    http://www.range-rover-classic.com/H...e-rover-1980-s.

Go down to the 1986 "Olympic" Range Rovers where there is a mention with a question mark that the "Kestrel" may be similar to the Olympic "sporty" RR.

The website owner, Vidar is a member here (Tuscan) - see the sticky about his website at:

Range Rover CKD production in Australia.

You could send him a PM about the "Kestrel" - he may have more information not on his website.

    G`day ,

you may need to check your Vin deciphering .

The Vin signal has given say it`s an EA , 88 .

The Vin fo a 93 will be KA .

The 2 letters just before the last 6 numbers are the ones .
