    Front Flex RRC

Looking at planning my front flex options I currently have +2's all round, But the front doesn't drop that far nor compress the latter is probably due to 150lb front spring's over the std 133lb

But I am wondering if anyone has had good success flexing the front of a RRC without spending a bomb.

Ideas welcomed also keep in mind I don't want a mega lift option as I like the road rules and want to keep it legal.

    Cheers

May I ask what springs they are? (Brand and P/N would be good )

As that is the rate I want for my RR, but at this stage looking at getting custom ones. The springs won't be limiting flex at all.

Regarding the flex, the limiters are both shock length and bush bind, there is a lot of good info about this in the LR section of pirate 4x4, not sure I'm supposed to link to another forum, but this is a thread with some great tech (and the usual pirate BS) Analyze my set up, want more flex. - Pirate4x4.Com : 4x4 and Off-Road Forum , you may want to check it out, there's also some other links within the pages.

I've recently done the 'holey bush' mod in my '83, I'll attach a picture below, there is tech about it in the thread above. I am now maxing out the shocks so that is the next step. Also not sure of the legalities of holey bushes, but the idea is from Aus!

    Cheers

With holes that size,if you get more than 1,000km out of the bushes, you aren't working the suspension hard enough

Apparently the bigger holes last longer than the smaller ones, doesn't worry me the bushes were spare and we have a press so I can swap it back in an hour anyway. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/land-...ey-bushes.html

I did it as a bit of an experiment, they've been off road a few times, and probably done 2000k's so far, it's my toy car was going to get slotted poly bushings but thought I'd give this a go first.

Std Diesel 88 model fronts and rears are 150lb springs unlike the petrol 150 rear and 133 front's.
rears in the front give a 2" lift then got new 150lb rears with a +2 from my old 87 v8.

Ride great very little roll compared to my old v8 with the 133's

As you can see it also corrects the front heavy look they have std.

Also when I did this I measured from flat ground (concrete slab) to top of wheel arch and both front and rears were i think 875mm which actually lifts the nose 10mm as the wheel arches are different from front to rear. Drives great!

Cheers for the link I am going to do the holey mod as I have a spare set of arms many thanks will post pics as to my results as I have pic's from my forklift flexing test when I did the suspension.

Thanks for the info, I'll probably have to get some longer ones made due to the front bar, winch and dual batteries, I'll see if I can borrow some rears off someone for a trial fit, or something.

I trust you read the holey bush thread and have the method down-pat? Make sure to use a high speed drill, and have the drill spinning before touching the rubber or you'll chew it up. I think I used an 11 or 12mm drill.

As I said I'm not sure about legalities.

Just for the record my 88 Rrc has dual batteries (Std) and steel front bar and as of next week 12000lb winch I can let you know if interested.

This would also work well on the rear I am assuming from the read up, But I will leave that for now as the rears already flex like a mofo.

I am thinking of using my die-grinder with a small bit in it that's like 15000 rpm turns rubber to liquid instantly.

Looking forward to this seem's A LOT to gain.
