Hi,
First step would be to have a look at the new pads in the callipers and make sure they're all around the right way. i.e. with the metal backing towards the pistons and the pad material towards the disc.

Last month I replaced the brake rotors and pads all round on my 1988 Classic.
I took the car out for its first run yesterday and I've got some noises coming from the front brake system.
It sounds like the brake pads are rattling in calipers or are touching the brake disk even when there is no pressure on the brake pedal. The brakes work and the car stops in a straight line.
Obviously something is not quite right.
When I replaced the pads the caliper pistons where quite hard to press back into the caliper. I guess one of them could be stuck?
Also when I bled the brakes I only bled fluid from 2 of the bleed nipples on each of the front calipers. I've since read in this forum that there are 3 bleed nipples on each caliper. Could air in the system be the source of the problem?
Should I rebuild the calipers with new seals and pistons?
Any tips on how to diagnose the actual problem so I only fix what is broken?
Thanks ...... Paul

Did you put the tension plates back in? The ones that sit on top of the pads when the callipers are fitted to the car?
These plates are held in with 2 big split pins. If they are loose or missing this would create noise as described.
I don't think not bleeding the brakes from all 3 points would create this noise but i highly recommend bleeding all 3. I normally bleed the 2 that are the same size (inside i think) first then the bigger one (outside) last. Not sure if this is the correct way but my brakes are mint. I also have an 88 classic.
I'm feeling a bit silly for having posted this thread.
I just took the wheels off the car to have a look at the brakes and found a small stone rattling between the guard plate and the brake disc.
If I'd driven another couple of kilometres I think it would have fallen out by itself.
Anyway while the wheels were off I bled the brakes again this time from all 3 nipples.
I think the car is now ready for the rwc check.
Cheers
Paul
