Immobiliser and alarm on a RRC

For the last day and a half the alarm on the 1984 Classic goes off after a five minutes (after a little light on the dash has been flashing for about 30 seconds). It then runs for another 30 seconds before shutting down. And the alarm continues until the battery runs flat.

I dont really want the alarm or immobiliser, and getting it fixed/replaced is another unwanted cost atm. So the question is how do I remove it completely? Will there be any 'side-effects' if I do?

I'm guessing its as simple as following all the wires from the alarm system box/siren and just disconnecting them. Does anyone have any ideas or experience?

    Thanks

Most aftermarket alarms are spliced into the main harness under the dash and then copiously lathered with black tape. Undo all the tape, identify all the cut wires by the colours either side of the cut, rejoin the wires and dice the alarm as far as you can. Most cars are stolen these days by beating up the owner and stealing the keys anyway, so alarms are a bit pointless.

Everyone I talk to is under the impression that Rangies are permanently immobilized by default and as such are not worth stealing! However, we all know different don't we ??????????????

PS still not fixed that brake light issue!

Well, the alarm and extras are out and the Rhino starts!! Seem to have lost the horn though, the relay clicks and seems to all the wires still connected, but the horn doesn't seem to want to work. Is this directly associated with my work, or just a coincidence?

Was the horn used as the noise source for the alarm? You may have pulled the wires off the alarm when you removed it?

    Ay spare wires left over?

Just a dodgy fuse and a co-incidence. The Rhino is almost ready for the RWC!!
