Looking forward to seeing the pics Jools.
Just wondering if anyone knows how to remove the pastic sill clips and are they reusable? Haven't tried yet due to fear.
Cheers Ben
Hi Ben
Good to see you starting your project.
I read in your blog that you are gonna remove the body from the chassis, THEN remove the centre floor.
You are dealing with a large meccano set. I found it a lot easier to dismantle it while on the chassis.
Remove the centre floor and transmission tunnel, then the outer panels, the doors and then the roof ( unscrews through the black plastic plugs above the door frame and all around). Take off the rear upper and lower tailgate and the rear frame (the heaviest part).
Then all you have left is the sides and bulk head. Remove the sides and you can easily access every thing else on the bulkhead.
This can all be done by one person, if you are gonna remove the body from the chassis you need a machine or lots of mates.
When undoing the bolts, I found it easier if I cleaned the threads with a wire brush and then sprayed some wd40 on them.
Have fun with the resto

Hi Ben,
Lizzy looks like a great platform to restore from and I like everyone else look forward to her transformation back to original specs.
How long have you owned Lizzy and do you have a large workshop to do the restore work in.
I have an 81 RRC 2 Door and eventually I would like to do a full restore like you where she will become my Sunday drive ....again good luck and we look forward to seeing more.
Cheers

Yeah mate it will be a slow process with a lot of work to be done and I'm sure the budget is going to be blown on this one. I've only just moved in and my Worksop is pretty much no existent I have an old wool shed for good dry storage area, I will have to build an easement for the bulk of the project. Im just getting ready to separate the two sides from bulk head and tailgate frame. She's been a bit slow lately as my wife's ready to pop in the next few day. I'm sure their will be plenty of times this project will take a back seat to life but I'm determined to get her finished. I've owned lizzie since I was 19 so about 12 years (minus the time I sold her for six months then she reappeared on eBay realised my mistake and bought her back).
