It has their name and date of gas compliance stamped on it. Maybe the reason you cannot find your stamp date is because it is not actually on the tank? Check the engine bay for a compliance plate.

I'm not sure if my tank has one as well because I just went by the date on the above described plate.

    GOOD LUCK!
yeah no worries. im searching for someone who doesnt want to charge overpriced amounts but might have to travel south a bit. there is only a handfull of people around my area and they all seem to see me coming. i have a couple more people to ask today.

my has a compliance plate on the tanks and the engine bay as date of install 1997 so they would have had to have been checked around 2007. from what i know the truck was last registered in 2010.

im taking the tanks out and will just take them to the testing place but if i find someone today i wont

Don't assume that. My gas system was installed in 1992. The cylinder was then tested some twenty years later.

so spoke to more people today and the best i got from a mates mate was $180 per tank if i bring them in. he also said if you wanted you could change then to mount in the rear cab but you would lose space of course but save the pain of putting them back in underneath.

my issue is if its going to cost me $480 to have them tested then it would be cheaper to just change back to fuel only as i could get a tank and pump for around that and have no more issues with gas. otherwise just pay the cost now for the tanks and get it on the road as would only have to do it again in 10 years

so I've decide as the gas system is in there and i got the tanks out ( not that big of a deal after all) i will stick with the twin tanks instead of installing a new tank, pump and plumbing for the fuel. however might look at moving the tanks into the cab on either side or just stick them back under.

    thanks again for all responses.

If you're going to stick with gas, stick them back under.
Unless you want to put an original fuel tank in (which is where I assume the gas tanks are).
Then, visit a wreckers to find a single gas tank to fit inside. Look for one in date.

I thought paying for a new (or near new) 80 litre internal tank would cost about the same as your re-stamp. Then sell the twin tank, (petrol tank replacement system) to someone like me who would rather have the space in the back. I'm in Victoria so it makes it a bit difficult for us. But someone on this forum will want those tanks. Worse case someone on Gumtree. That way your close to cost neutral and happy with your capacity.

yes very true but i dont want to take us space in the back so it was restamp or redo back to fuel. seeing the gas is in there and its only a weekend warrior so do need big fuel capacity. my next step is a blue slip in NSW which is booked in for tuesday
