I used to carry a spare axle for the old series 3 I had, and for a little while, same car had an issue with the dizzy, so I carried parts for that. Changed the axle once,,, patch of tar on top of Benambra at Wodonga caught me out , and had to rebuild the dizzy up on the side of the road out at Shelley.

Since then, have only ever carried a few tools and some electrical bits and pieces, CRC and some fencing wire.

Forgot too, seeing your also on the subject of water.

Have never had an issue with getting good water from the streams up there, so much so, we used to take extra empty containers to bring it back home to drink

I think that's a gamble personally. If there was anything dead or any faeces in the water upstream you are placing yourself at risk. Only guaranteed way is a filter or purification. If you don't have access to either then boil it. I have seen numerous times people get crook from drinking untreated high country water. Particularly now with the bloody ridiculous cattle in the high country 'trials'

    Water

I'm currently only running water in my cooling system. I just remembered i will have to change it to anti-freeze coolant before i go. Might be worth considering if you are not running anti-freeze.

It is easy to say it's not going to be cold, but the weather changes too quickly up there for you to take a gamble. It snowed on new years day up there last year.

Well all packed and ready to hit the road after work tomorrow!

Thanks for all the advice, it's all been taken on-board.

If I see you I'll be sure to say G'day Steve!

Hope everyone has a happy and safe Easter.

    Cheers

At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.

    Gaffer tape

An' don't forget the 'Gaffer' tape, the 100MPH tape cloth type not the plastic one and a tube(s) of liquid steel, amazing what you can fix with those two .
