245 70 r16 on a RR Classic?
I've had a read through some of the threads regarding Tyre Sizes for a RR Classic. Lot's of good information.
Best compromise for Classic, - original size?
Tyre size help please
The threads suggest that a 245 70 R16 tyre will fit but it may be necessary to adjust the steering stops to prevent the tyres rubbing on full lock.
Does anyone have firsthand experience of running this tyre size?
My RR Classic has a 50mm suspension lift. Will that help or hinder?
I picked up a set of 245 70 R14 tyres at the weekend for a great price. I'm hoping they can fit Okay.

Hi Paul, I have been running 245/70/16 Cooper STT's on my 1975 rangie ute for a while now - no issues. Mine has an EFS +2" suspension. You should adjust your steering stops anyway as they are seldom set correctly. This way you know you have optimised your turning circle.

Mine came with 235/70R16 Coopers... No hint of rubbing, and the turning circle makes the Queen Mary look nimble.- But I'm used to European/Jap coaches.
So far, too lazy to check or adjust the steering stops, as every late model Classic I've driven seems the same.
The Lady Sarah, '95 Classic Vogue SE, totally standard, with working air suspension.

I ran 245/70's on std Disco steel rims on mine for a while, slight rubbing on full lock, but the stops were probably set for offset 15x7 sunnies. The lift makes no difference either way as to wether they fit or not.
Probably a very good allround size on a standish classic really...

Suspension lift doesn't change clearance. At full compression all the same problems remain.
I have just taken delivery of a 94 rrc with that exact size. But guards were already cut to run much bigger rubber. If you never have to fit chains it would probably work well. But I run 225/75r16 so I can not rip my snow chains off using my inner guards.

My old rangie ran the same tyre with no dramas at all
