    late RRc A/C (differences from early type)?

    Not having ever taken the A/C unit on a late RRc apart, what are the differences between them and the early type?

    I know there are a single control unit however is the A/C evaporator/blower still essentially an under dash unit or is it fully integrated with the heater/demister blower unit?

    Photos would be good!

    I own two hard dash with ac and soft dash.
    The pipes enter in a completely different place and the glove box on the soft dash is a solid clue the ac evaporator isn't where it usually is.

    My 93 and 85 hard dash models have the pipes and evaporator in the same location. The ac controls are just integrated into the heater controls. Switch it to bi level or snow flake and the ac runs.

    I suspect so. I saw a diagram once but I can't recall where. I haven't yet been into the dash on that vehicle.

    Heater and A/C moved in together in the Soft Dash.
    Heater in/out on Drivers side, A/C in/out on Passenger side.

    What do you want to see?
    The diagrams I've seen were basically this from the workshop manual for discos: Land Rover Workshop Manuals > 300Tdi Discovery > 82 - AIR CONDITIONING > REPAIR > EVAPORATOR AND EXPANSION VALVE

    Thats sort of what I wanted, actually what I'm contemplating is attempting to make an integrated A/C - heater/demister unit to fit in place of the heater demister unit on a Defender. A bit like the failed combined unit for the early county models.

    What I hate is the under dash Defender unit which means the passenger can't have feet if they want to sit comfortably.

    I have several original RRc A/C units and also a later hard dash RRc as well as a Defender under dash unit.

    The plan was to be able to draw air from outside or recirculate air from above the passengers footwell through the RRc A/C. The internal airflow was the issue I was investigating, whether it would be laminar with the heater air flowing above the a/c air merging into the original heater demister ducting with additional ducting from the A/C to either the Defender under dash A/C duct unit (knee chiller) or to new vents ducted via tubes within spaces in the original dash unit.

    The other option was whether the OEM integrated units flowed heated air through the A/C evaporator or vice versa and whether I should do that on my plan.

    my analysis of the image
    The green circle is the blowers.?
    the red square is the A/C evaporator?
    the blue circle is the heat exchanger?
    the green arrows are chilled A/C air?
    What I'm trying to sort out is
    Does the heated air exit at purple arrow?
    or is the yellow arrow the recycled air?
    the orange air is fresh air?

    or am I completely off the mark

    Looking at your diagram, me thinks the Red Square is the Heater Core.
    The Blue circle is the A/C.
    Orange would be the air flow to Windscreen,
    Green would be Bi-Level.
    I think the Fresh air would be Ingested on the other side of the box. (against the Firewall)
    The Purple and Yellow would be for feet level. The same hole would be on the other side.
    To get the Recirc air, all the Boxes I've seen run a duct along under the dash to a corner in the foot-well.
    Hiden up with all the wiring and computers etc.

    While we're on this topic. Does anyone know if the soft-dash heater runs a tap or valve on the hose on the engine side of the firewall?

    Mine has one. I don't yet know if it is a dodgy replacement for a factory item or a dodgy addition.
    The lines are still connected which suggests the heater core isn't leaking.
