Noisy power steering
I'm getting a loud groaning noise when steering either left or right. It sounds like it is coming from the p/s pump or possibly the high pressure hose leaving the pump.
So far I have swapped out the pump with one that was not making any noise in another car. Then topped up and bled the system.
I'm still getting the same noise.
Also steering is very light as though being over assisted.
I'm a bit stumped at this point. Any suggestions are welcome. Could this be noise transmitted into the chassis through the hoses?

The steel reservoirs had a filter which could block up not sure about the ZF plastic ones.
I am a bit surprised that it feels over assisted as the pressure relief valve is in the pump. Something may have broken in the steering box involved with the control valve....they usually have a torsion bar type set up which flexes and give the assistance when needed......making the pump work its lungs out.

Thanks Bundy. I tried replacing the filter in the reservoir, but it didn't help.
The noise ended up being the way the high pressure hose was routed from the pump to the box. It was clamped with a saddle tight to the chassis and this was amplifying the noise from almost nothing to a very loud groaning noise.
I slackened this off a bit and spaced it with some rubber between the hose and the chassis. Now it's good.
